Recently on television there was a report about the Washington K-12 public schools’ free lunch program that mentioned that 400,000 public school children receive a free lunch.
What’s wrong with this picture?
Surely parents who can afford to buy a cell phone for themselves or their kids, pay for cable TV, digital cameras or beer and cigarettes can afford $2 or $3 for lunch.
It sounds to me like too few parents consider their children their responsibility.
Then again, why should they when they know they can stick the taxpayers with the bill?
