By now, readers may have gotten a little used to change at the Bremerton Patriot. Since the paper got its start in 1999, the majority of those changes have been in staffing. Today’s new Bremerton Patriot, however, is just the start of what readers can soon come to expect.

And while change isn’t always easy, the key to accepting and even embracing it is to look at it for its positive qualities. The paper’s new format means more than just a different look. It means more pages and more Bremerton community news. In the coming months, you’ll notice more features and more local coverage on schools, sports, businesses, parks, events and more.

The new format will take some getting used to, but we’re confident you’ll appreciate the new design. The new format mirrors that of our sister paper, the Kitsap Free Daily. Many will find that the new format is reader-friendly, a pick-up-and-go kind of paper that’s easy to read, whether you’re on the ferry or at your kitchen table.

The Patriot’s new look also allows for far more color on more pages than in previous issues. We love having bright, colorful photos on the front page, but that wasn’t always possible before. We’re excited to get more color, more often and not only on the front page, but throughout the entire paper.

Although the Patriot’s home office recently moved to Silverdale, readers will continue to see a variety of Bremerton-centered news.

Change is among us here at the Bremerton Patriot, and while we know our deep roots in the community will continue to grow, we know that change is what will give us the branches to reach those new heights.
