Josiah Sorenson of Bremerton is hoping to place at the Mat Classic for the first time this year, and his current ranking predicts him to do just that.
Sorenson is currently ranked seventh in the 2A 152-pound weight class by Washington Wrestling Report. He took his first steps toward the state tournament this weekend by winning his subregional at North Mason High School.
Sorenson started the day by pinning Parker Torgersen of North Kitsap in 1 minute, 22 seconds. He then beat Anthony Widmer of Liberty High School, also via the pin. He reached the finals, but did not have to wrestle as he accepted a forefit from fellow Knight Michael Murray in order to take the higher seed into Saturday’s regional championships at Orting High School.
