North Kitsap captured its first ever boys hoops championship this past weekend, and leading the way was Shaa Humphrey.
The senior forward averaged 16.2 points per game in the Vikings’ four state tournament wins and was one of the team’s vocal leaders both on the court and in the locker room.
He saved his best performance for when his team needed him most. Humphrey led North Kitsap with 21 points in his team’s 62-56 victory over the two-time defending 2A state champions, Lynden. The Vikings were down 14 points heading into the fourth quarter, but rallied back after scoring on ten consecutive possessions.
Humphrey also scored two important baskets in the fourth quarter of the championship game against Clarkston, including a spinning layup which ultimately put the game out of reach.
