The Bainbridge Spartans sank the Kingston Buccaneers in baseball 10-2 March 21.
Kyler Miller started on the mound for the Spartans.
In the first two innings, Miller struck out the first batter, allowed the second batter to reach base and let his defense turn a double play to end both innings. Kingston’s Brooks Arnim reached base in the first and Seamus Gallagher-Kennedy reached in the second inning.
The Spartans scored in the first inning. Eddie Bignold hit a single and moved to second when Owen Browning was walked. JT Hardy started his career day with an RBI single to make it 1-0.
The Buccaneers’ offense came in the third inning. Kris Nola and Connor Cornwell reached first and second after being walked and hit by pitch. After a wild pitch thrown by Miller, Nola slid at home to tie the game.
Peau Tameilau earned an RBI single before being thrown out by Bainbridge’s Coco Black to end the top of the inning at 2-1 Kingston.
Browning picked up a double and Hardy earned his second RBI of the game with another single.
In the fourth inning, the Bainbridge bats broke the tie. Jack Grant, Braden French, Luke Lavigne, Black and Browning all scored in the inning. Grant and French crossed home plate on a sacrifice fly while Black and Lavigne scored from Browning’s single.
Miller ended the scoring spree with a triple to make it 7-2.
Miller’s day ended as French took over on the mound in the fifth inning. French did not give up a hit or run in the next three innings. On the other hand, Black scored for the Spartans on a passed ball.
Bainbridge’s scoring ended in the sixth inning when Hardy cleared the bases with a double, giving the Spartans a 10-2 victory.
