BI, Kingston split golf matches

Bainbridge

In girls golf last week, Bainbridge beat Kingston 230 to 264. In boys golf, Bainbridge fell to Kingston 164 to 184. Both matches were at White Horse Golf Club.

In the boys match, Ashton Purser was the medalist with a 39 for the Bucs, followed by Viet Tran with a 40, Orlando Chiquiti a 42, John Knight a 43, Avery Berger a 52 and Riley Liebold a 65. For BHS, Ryan Sturham led with a 43 followed by Justin Marten with a 44, Andrew Grinter a 47, Dane Byers a 50, Owen Scheer a 52 and Andrew Jobes a 53.

But in the girls match, Bainbridge’s Maya Wilder and Sara Kreigh tied for low score, both shooting a 56. Grace Charintranont shot a 57, Hailey Fink at 61, Brodie Exarhos a 63 and Tate Treaverton a 66. For Kingston, Makenzie Crow shot a 60 and Rebecca Smyth a 64. Leah Garringer hit a 68 and Addison Northon a 72.

Meanwhile, senior Grace Pratt scored four goals and another senior, Maja Carroll, came up with six steals as the girls water polo team beat Mercer Island 17-4 last week. We “shut down Mercer’s offense with a strong press and by crashing on Mercer’s strong shooters,” coach Joy Miller said. The BHS team opened its season with a 20-3 romp over Bellevue.

In boys soccer last week, Bainbridge blanked North Mason 4-0 after shutting out North Kitsap 1-0.

In baseball, Bainbridge blanked Lincoln of Seattle 1-0 Friday. Bainbridge also beat up on Sequim 22-2.

Kingston

Saturday, Kingston beat Port Angeles in soccer 3-2. Also last week the Bucs shut out Olympic 1-0.

Last Friday, Kingston beat Klahowya in fastpitch softball 15-7.

In baseball, Olympic beat Kingston 9-5.

In girls tennis, Olympic edged Kingston 4-3.

North Kitsap

Saturday, the Vikings beat Ridgefield in baseball 8-6. Last Friday, the squad also beat Columbia River 10-7.

The Vikings beat Bremerton 4-3 last week in soccer.
