FEDERAL WAY — Klahowya placed 11th and Olympic placed 14th in the 2016 2A Girls State Swim & Dive Championships, Nov. 12 at King County Aquatics Center.
The top individual finisher of the two schools was junior Kira Crane of Klahowya, who finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.24, a mere .03-second behind Alexis Smith of Cheney; and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.39, 4.20 seconds faster than her prelim time. Crane also competed on two relay teams that finished in the top 10 in their events.
So did Olympic’s Chloe Partsch, who placed sixth in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:00.20; and finished 10th in the 200-yard IM, posting a time of 2:16.82, nearly four seconds faster than her prelim time.
Klahowya’s Crane, Danielle Hanson, Elizabeth Helmer and Hallie Turk placed seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 3:53.10. Olympic’s Partsch, Danielle Snyder, Michelle Vanichkul, and Hannah Zimmer placed 10th, finishing in 3:54.39, nearly three seconds faster than their prelim time.
Olympic’s Partsch, Zimmer, Vanichkul and Arly Lagat placed ninth in the 200-yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:59.56. Klahowya’s Crane, Helmer, Turk and Madison Heaman placed 10th, finishing in 1:59.72.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Olympic’s Vanichkul, Zimmer, Snyder, and Lagat placed 12th, posting a time of 1:48.21.
In individual events, Klahowya’s Turk placed 11th in the 500-yard freestyle, with a time of 5:38.02.
Klahowya’s Helmer placed 14th in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:04.01.
Olympic’s Snyder finished 15th in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.17) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:46.57).
