With a record as of Aug. 6 of 22-28, the Kitsap BlueJackets sit in third place in the Western Division of the West Coast League.
The West Coast League is a summer wood-bat league for college-eligible student-athletes, dedicated to accelerating prospect development and increasing player exposure.
Unfortunately, with its current record and standing, the BlueJackets’ season will conclude on Aug. 9.
Four West Coast League teams qualify for the post-season: division winners and the wild card. The three teams in the chase for the wild-card bid are Corvallis Knights, Victoria HarbourCats and the Yakima Valley Pippins.
The West Coast League post-season will start on Aug. 11.
The final series for the BlueJackets will be played Aug. 7-9 against the Cowlitz Black Bears. This series will be a part of a charity event sponsored by Costco and Point Casino. There will also be a hot-tub party in the outfield.
Before the season started, owner Matt Acker worked to improve the BlueJackets stadium and fan experience.
“We have roughly $225,000 worth of projects happening. A lot of things are being renovated and improved to make this field the new standard,” Acker said.
The BlueJackets will look to continue those improvements in to the 2016 season.
