Bremerton beats Wilson to clinch state spot

The Bremerton High School boys soccer team is back in the state tournament for the first time in 20 years.

The Knights defeated Wilson High School (Tacoma) 3-2 at the Lincoln Bowl May 14, securing a berth in the Class 3A state tournament, their first since 1991. The team also avoided being charged with another red card. One more would preclude the team from finishing the game or advancing.

James Hill scored Bremerton’s first goal in the 11th minute with an assist from Nick Riders to tie the game at 1-1. Alex Correll’s goal in the 31st minute gave the Knights a 2-1 advantage.
