BREMERTON — RBIs from Aaron Ping and Jordan Peabody in the sixth provided insurance support as the Kitsap BlueJackets took the middle game against the Yakima Valley Pippins by a score of 4-1 at home July 14, ending an 11-game losing streak.

The BlueJackets began their offensive success early in the first when Jake Scudder got an RBI-groundout to second base.

Answering the call early, Corey Morris hit the sacrifice fly to get the Pippins on the board in the second, evening the score at 1-1.

Ping then hit the RBI single in the bottom of sixth that put the BlueJackets back on the board after three scoreless innings. Peabody was able to add to the Kitsap momentum in the inning and add one more, extending the lead to 4-1.

Starting pitcher Jake Brewer (2-2) was the winning pitcher for the BlueJackets, going seven strong innings, allowing two hits and an unearned run, striking out seven and walking three. Tyler Omlid earned the save for two scoreless innings.

Yakima Valley ended the game with one run, three hits and three errors. The BlueJackets finished with four hits, nine runs and an error.

The series finale takes place July 15, with first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
