The West Central District 3 baseball tournaments continue as Kingston looks for a state berth and North Kitsap looks for a district title.
Olympic, however, was eliminated by the Bucs. Klahowya was also eliminated in 1A.
North Kitsap
The Vikings will play May 11 against Steilacoom at Central Kitsap High School after beating Franklin Pierce 2-1.
Kingston
Kingston defeated Olympic 5-4, knocking the Trojans out of the playoffs.
Peau Tameilau pitched and led the Buccaneers to their first run. In the first three innings, he allowed a run, but scored an RBI single to make it 1-1, as Kyler Hedstrom scored.
Kingston scored two more runs in the top of the fourth. After loading the bases with one out, Gavin Garner hit a single into center field, and Izaiah Reynolds scored on a passed ball.
Chayton Walker stepped onto the mound in the fifth inning and shut down the Trojans until the seventh.Kingston added two more runs in the seventh when Hedstrom and Reynolds hit RBI singles with the bases loaded and two outs. Although the Buccaneers led 5-1 in the bottom of the seventh with one out, the Trojans fought back until the final pitch.
Olympic loaded the bases and Landen Cartwright hit a 2 RBI double to make it 5-3. Walker picked up the second out but Trojan Chase Beninger hit a single. The runners moved to second and third base with a full count, two outs and trailing by one. But Walker struck out Trojan Antonio Castorena to secure the victory.
Kingston will play Sequim May 11 at Foss High for the final state berth.
Klahowya
Klahowya was eliminated by Vashon Island in the consolation semifinals, losing 9-4.
Vashon Island scored in the first inning on an RBI double. The Pirates added two more runs on an error and a passed ball behind home plate. Vashon Island continued to take advantage of Eagle errors as the Pirates scored their fourth and fifth run in the third inning after another passed ball and RBI single.
Klahowya’s Evan Beaver got the team’s first hit in the third inning. However, Klahowya struggled to advance the runner.
Vashon Island piled up three more runs in the top of the sixth on a 2 RBI double and a walk with the bases loaded. Klahowya responded with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Carson Moore picked up two RBIs on an infield single, and Camden Dickey’s singles scored the third run. Both teams traded a run in the seventh inning. Dickey picked up another RBI single.
