KINGSTON — There’s something to be said for home field advantage in Kingston.

Under a downpour of rain and in front of hundreds of fans, the Buccaneers grabbed their first win of the season, routing Klahowya, 45-6 in a homecoming matchup. The game was the first to be played under the new stadium lights at Buccaneer Field.

“It’s easy to say after a win like this that there’s a home field advantage,” Kingston Head Coach Dan Novick said. “This town is awesome. I’m really happy for our kids.”

Kingston tailback Lou Hecker led the way for the Buccaneer offense, rushing for six of the team’s seven touchdowns. Receiver Tyler Klopp had the team’s only other score.

“Home field advantage is nice,” Hecker said. “Even if it’s raining, it’s still nice. We’re 2-0 on the field.”

The only other win in Kingston’s three year history came last season in a daytime match against Chimacum. It was also the only game Kingston had played at Buccaneer Field prior to Friday’s win.
