A handful of local swimmers from the Central Kitsap and Bremerton areas have qualified for this week’s state swim meet at the King County Aquatics Center.
Leading the pack following the 2A district meet at Hazen High School last week is Klahowya sophomore Kelsey Crane. She won last year’s state championship in the 500-yard freestyle and, according to the psych sheet released this week, is the third seed in that event with a time of 5:25.80 and the third seed in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:15.07.
Olympic High School senior Danielle Nelson, meanwhile, is the number 11 seed in the 200 IM with a time of 2:21.44, and OHS senior Maxine Vanichkul is the 19 seed with a time of 2:29.63.
Olympic sophomore De’Ana Reynaga qualified in the 200-yard free with a time of 2:17.79. In the 100-yard butterfly, Olympic senior Danielle Nelson qualified with a time of 1:04.14, and Bremerton High School sophomore Juliana Guyt qualified with a time of 1:07.48.
In 4A action, Central Kitsap High School junior Sarah Avery qualified in the 50-yard free with a time of 25.29, and she qualified in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.66. CKHS sophomore Leah Avery, meanwhile, qualified in the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.05 and the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.69.
