Central Kitsap wrestling
Head coach: Mike Harter
2016-17 record: 3-4
Top Returners: Zach Wheeler, senior; Mike Lamb, senior; Gabe Back, junior; Camerion Reines, junior; Payton Kelleher, sophomore; Brittani Smith, sr.
Key newcomers: Shayne Hew-Len, freshman.
Outlook: Central Kitsap have a large group of freshmen participating this year, meaning they will be short on experience. Wheeler was a state alternate and Lamb was a regional alternate, both should have good seasons. Expectations have also been raised for Raines, Kelleher and the young Hew-Lin, who is expected to wrestle well at 12o or 126. Nate Larson also returns after being injured for the past two years. Unfortunately, Kayana Wysocki has been lost to a season-ending injury on the girls side after being a regional participant last year, but senior captain Smith is a returning regional participant. The Cougars will wrestle a tough schedule, but the hope is the experience will serve them well as the season goes on.
