The Central Kitsap boys basketball team slipped to .500 with a 51-50 loss to Bellarmine Prep Wednesday.

Trailing by a point with less than 15 seconds to play, the Cougars (4-4 overall, 2-2 league) lost possession of the ball after playing for the last shot, allowing the Lions to run out the clock.

CK’s Michael Gurske scored 18 points to lead all scorers, Jacob Sontagand added 11 and senior Christian Wesley chipped in with nine. The team hosts Bremerton (4-1, 4-0) Tuesday.

The Lady Cougars faired no better, losing to Bellarmine 59-37 after falling behind by 23 points at halftime. Kirsten Anthony scored 13 points for CK, which hosts Todd Beamer at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Olympic

The Trojans continue to search for their elusive first victory.

For the second time this season, Olympic lost by one point, this time by a 48-47 count to Port Townsend on the road Tuesday.

Trent Gallagher scored 22 points to pace the Trojans, who host Bremerton Friday.

In girls action, the Lady Trojans moved to .500 with a 54-38 victory over Port Townsend at home Tuesday.

Olympic (2-2, 2-1), which visits Bremerton Friday, received 18 points from Jalyn Halstead and 14 from Riza Suriben.

Klahowya

The Eagles’ highest scoring output of the season wasn’t nearly enough as Bremerton rolled to a 93-64 victory Tuesday.

Facing full-court pressure much of the way, Klahowya couldn’t overcome a 13-point first-quarter deficit, dropping to 1-5 on the year. KSS is at Neah Bay at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Lady Eagles came up two points short at home against Bremerton Tuesday, losing 40-38.

Junior Jordan Dixon scored 10 points to help KSS trim into a nine-point lead, but Bremerton held on late. The Lady Eagles are at Quilcene at 2 p.m. Monday.
