Central Kitsap’s baseball team wasn’t exactly challenged by Stadium on Friday.
After scoring six runs before the Tigers (5-5 overall, 4-5 in Narrows League) ever stepped up to the plate, CK cruised to a 14-0 five-inning shutout in Tacoma, scattering four hits en route to the big win. The victory improves the Cougars to 12-4 overall (7-4 in league).
Casey Bohlmann went the distance for CK, getting offensive help from Nate Roberts, who hit a homer and drove in four runs. Drew Vettleson popped another home run in the win. Caleb Brown went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in the win, while Howie McDonald went 2-for-3. Will Morris was 2-for-2 with a triple and Cole Adams hit a three-run blast for CK.
CK battled Wilson Monday but results were unavailable at press time. The Cougars are at home today, hosting Bellarmine in a 4 p.m. game at Huey Field.
Things were wide open on the fastpitch diamond as well Friday, with CK using six runs in the seventh inning to top Gig Harbor 13-4.
CK (9-3, 8-2) got a huge game out of starting pitcher Carolyn Cross, who not only earned the win on the mound, pitching into the fifth inning, but helped her own cause with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate that included a triple, a home run and four RBI.
Naomi Stocks had another big game for CK, batting 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI while Julie Fergus smacked a pair of doubles, also driving one in. Erin Curtis also contributed big by driving in three runs with a double.
CK was at South Kitsap Monday but results were unavailable at press time. The Lady Cougars next travel to Tacoma today for a 4 p.m. road battle with Bellarmine.
Boys soccer
Klahowya remained winless in Olympic League play, falling 5-0 to overall league leaders Kingston on Saturday.
The Bucs didn’t take long to begin, scoring goals in the 11th and 16th minutes en route to a 4-0 halftime lead. Both Bobby Catania and John Troka each scored a goal while assisting one another.
The Eagles go for their first league win against Port Townsend at 3:45 p.m. tomorrow at Silverdale Stadium.
