CK wins wild one against T-Birds

Trojans blow out Kingston in Oly League action.

From KITSAP NEWS Reports

The Central Kitsap boys remained undefeated Friday night … barely.

In another tight contest that’s been the norm early in the year for the CK boys basketball squad, the Cougars prevailed yet again, outlasting Mount Tahoma 66-64 in overtime.

The Cougars got in a hole early, trailing the T-Birds 19-8 after the first quarter. But a 25-11 CK advantage in the second kept the game moving at an even keel until the overtime period.

In OT, the teams traded buckets early, with CK getting the ball in the final seconds. With just 2.5 seconds to go, Philip Thomas scored the most important of his 8 points in the game, icing a jumper to give the Cougars (7-0, 4-0) the win.

Brandon Durham led all scorers in the game with 25 points, while Cody Thurmond added 14 for the Cougs.

CK plays host to Foss tomorrow at 7 p.m. before traveling to Auburn Mountainview for a non-league game Friday night.

Olympic

The Olympic boys hoops team didn’t waste any time introducing Kingston to life on the Olympic League hardwood, outscoring the Bucs 27-14 in the opening quarter en route to an 83-49 blowout win Friday.

The Trojans blew Kingston out even more after the half, putting up 25 to the Bucs’ 6 in the third quarter.

Joey Johnston led the way for the Trojans (2-2) with 25 points, while Rashad Greene put in 16 more. Vaughn Jones also was in double digits for Oly, scoring 10.

The Trojans travel to Klahowya for an 8 p.m. makeup game before hosting North Mason at 7 p.m. Friday.
