SPOKANE — The Crosspoint Academy girls fell to Sunnyside Christian, 76-44, in the first round Class 1B Hardwood Classic at Veteran’s Memorial Arena.
The Warriors will play league-rival Evergreen Lutheran, who lost to Republic, 64-34, at 9 a.m. March 6, in the consolation bracket.
Sunnyside Christian, who built a 25-6 lead at the end of the first period, went into halftime with a comfortable 41-16 margin.
As for Evergreen Lutheran, the Eagles — like Crosspoint — fell behind early against Republic. The Tigers jumped out to a 23-7 lead and took a 40-15 lead into intermission.
The Crosspoint-Evergreen winner will play at 8 a.m. March 7 for fourth- and sixth-place in the tournament.
This will be the fifth meeting between the two schools.
Crosspoint defeated Evergreen, 51-47, in the SeaTac League tournament on Feb. 12, and 48-46 in the Tri-District 1/2/3 championship game on Feb. 21.
