The Bremerton School District will continue its search for a new high school boys basketball coach after an initial effort failed to produce the right candidate.
A panel of coaches, players and administrators interviewed a pool of between four and six applicants about three weeks ago, but the interviews yielded no hire.
“They were just looking for a broader contingent of people to look at,” said Patty Glaser, spokeswoman for the district. “We went through the process and determined that we wanted to continue looking.
With the 2010-11 season beginning in December, it’s unclear how long Bremerton is willing to wait. The new coach will begin work Nov. 15, according to the job posting listed on the district’s website.
Glaser said it’s “fairly typical” for a job vacancy to be reposted, but she didn’t give a timetable on when the position will be filled.
The person hired will replace Casey Lindberg, who coached Bremerton to two state-tournament appearances in 11 seasons before moving to the Gig Harbor School District as an assistant principal.
