SILVERDALE — A close match between the Klahowya Eagles and North Kitsap Vikings ended in favor of the undefeated Poulsbo team.

The Vikings won 3-2 after being down two sets in the Olympic League opener.

“This was a very exciting contest with two evenly matched teams,” North Kitsap head coach Tim French wrote to the Herald. “I was extremely proud of the girls for staying positive throughout and working as hard as they could no matter the score.”

The Vikes lost the first set 23-25, and the second 24-26.

The Vikes rallied back in the third, winning the set 25-12. And they continued to control the match, ending the fourth set 25-20.

The win came with a 15-10 win in the fifth set.

“[The Vikings] supported each other and found a way to win some big points late in the match,” French wrote. “This was a big win for North and should be a confidence builder going forward.”

Now 6-0 overall, the Vikes are tied in League play with Port Angeles, Port Townsend, and Sequim. Bremerton, Kingston, Klahowya, and Olympic lost their League openers.

North Kitsap hosts North Mason Oct. 3 at 6:15 p.m.
