If the Klahowya Eagles boys lacrosse team wanted to make a statement before postseason, consider the mission accomplished.

Klahowya shut out South Kitsap 18-0 last Wednesday in the Eagles’ most lopsided victory of the season. The Eagles ended the regular season on a three-game win streak thanks to a 13-6 road win at Port Angeles on April 28 coupled with North Kitsap forfeiting Friday’s match. The Eagles end the regular season 7-7.

Next up is a first-round playoff battle with San Juan, which took place yesterday at Central Kitsap Junior High School. If the Eagles win, they’ll take on Seattle Prep in the second round, a team that beat them 18-3 in an exhibition game in early April.

In the win against SK, the Eagles brought the offensive pressure early and often, building an 8-0 lead after the first quarter. Ten different eagles scored goals in the contest. Eventually, the Eagles built themselves a 15-0 halftime lead with Chad Reeder and Nehemiah Salo combining for the shutout, the Eagles’ first of the season.

Karl Neumann led the onslaught with four goals and two assists, while Tyler Flowers added three goals. Danny Zimny not only scored twice for KSS, but also dished out a game-high four assists.

Christopher McGuire and Cody Hertenstein each scored twice, while Donnie McCarty, Neil Sell, Will Rosen and Josh Taylor all scored once. Alex Schell scored once and had an assist, while James West also finished with an assist.

In recording the shutout, Reeder collected six saves while Salo blocked four shots.
