Volleyball
2021 record: 11-2
Head coach: Mikaela Strutz
Key players: Marion Stejer, outside hitter, sr.; Karyss Johnson, middle blocker, sr.; Nizhoni Price, outside hitter, sr.; Kate McCabe, outside/opposite hitter, sr.; Grace Mosco, libero, jr.
Outlook: The Bucs had another strong season last year, losing just two matches, one to North Kitsap and one to Central Kitsap. They have a pretty strong group returning, including Stejer, who was one of two Olympic League MVPs, and McCabe, who will be reliable targets for setter Sophia Call. The Bucs have become one of the most consistent programs in the West Sound and should be able to stick near the top of the league, battling it out with North Kitsap and Bainbridge.
Schedule: Sept. 9, 6:15 p.m., Olympic; Sept. 13, 7 p.m., at South Kitsap; Sept. 14, 6 p.m., North Kitsap; Sept. 16, 6 p.m., at Bainbridge; Sept. 21, 6 p.m., Bremerton; Sept. 23, 6 p.m., at North Mason; Sept. 28, 6:15 p.m., at Sequim; Sept. 30, 6 p.m., Port Angeles; Oct. 5, 6:15 p.m., at Olympic; Oct. 7, 6:15 p.m., at North Kitsap; Oct. 12, 6 p.m., Bainbridge; Oct. 14, 6 p.m., at Bremerton; Oct. 19, 6 p.m., North Mason; Oct. 21, 6 p.m., Sequim; Oct. 26, 6 p.m., at Port Angeles.
Cross Country
Head coach: Lee Willson
Key runners (boys): Connor Nichols, sr.; Nathaniel Velie, sr.; Benjamin Eudeline, jr.; Kaeden Peterson, jr.; Lucas Lenz, so.; Emmanuel Moes, so.
Key runners (girls): Grace Epperson, sr.; Claire Moe, sr.; Lynn Nelson, sr.; Arlana Forbes-Prater, so.; Alice Moe, so.
Outlook: Both teams return a number of strong runners and have a good turnout among freshmen, which bodes well for their future. The boys lost their top runner from last year, but Nichols and Moes both finished the final league race in under 19 minutes. On the girls side, Forbes-Prater was the biggest surprise, coming in as the top finisher at last year’s Olympic League championships as a freshman.

Girls Swimming
Head coach: Mark VanHuis
Key swimmers: Mimi Hays, jr.; Lilia Manges, so.; Olivia Guzman, sr.; Elli Falen, jr.
Outlook: VanHuis, already the boys swim coach, adds the girls team to his schedule this year. He’s got a few strong returners, but no one with any state experience. But the program as a whole should still compete well at the league level.
Schedule: Sept. 9, 4 p.m., Klahowya; Sept. 16, 4 p.m., East Jefferson; Sept. 23, 4 p.m., Bainbridge; Sept. 30, 4 p.m., at Port Angeles; Oct. 5, 4 p.m., Bremerton; Oct. 7, 3:30 p.m., at Olympic; Oct. 14, 3 :30 p.m., North Kitsap; Oct. 21, 4 p.m., at Sequim; Oct. 26, 3 p.m., Last Chance Qualifier Meet at Port Angeles.
Boys Tennis
Head coach: Ed Call
Key players: Ryan Guedea, sr.; Garrett McDaniel, sr.; Avery Berger.
Outlook: Call, the school’s athletic director, is starting the season as the head coach until a hire is made. Kingston has a few experienced returners — McDaniel picked up a fifth-place finish as part of a doubles team last year in the Olympic League Tournament, and Guedea was a qualifier in the singles tournament.
Schedule: Sept. 16, 4 p.m., at North Kitsap; Sept. 20, 4 p.m., Sequim; Sept. 23, 4 p.m., at Bremerton; Sept. 28, 4 p.m., Sept. 30, 4 p.m., Olympic; North Mason; Oct. 7, 4 p.m., at Sequim; Oct. 11, 4 p.m., at North Mason; Oct. 12, 4 p.m., at Port Angeles; Oct. 14, 4 p.m., Bremerton.
