Overview: Despite the Wolves’ inexperience, this is a good opportunity for them to win their sixth consecutive season opener. Kentridge moved Smith from tight end to quarterback to begin last season, but the offense was stagnant with both him and Sebastian Bertulli under center. The Chargers were held scoreless twice in 2012 and failed to score more than 10 points seven times. It does not help that Kentridge’s most explosive player from last season, Jimmy Davis, graduated. Davis returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown in 2012 against South. This is the second meeting between the schools during the regular season. The schools have met each other twice in the playoffs, as well. The Chargers won 29-8 on Nov. 16, 2002, in the first round of the 4A state playoffs. In addition to its 2002 victory, which marked the Chargers’ last state-playoff win, they also defeated South 17-14 in overtime on Nov. 27, 1981, in the 4A state semifinals. Osborn graduated from Bremerton. Canton, who coached there from 1996-98, said he became friends with Osborn during his time there.
