Buccaneer athletes move on to state track
Thirteen Kingston athletes will compete at Mt. Tahoma in the Class 2A division of the state championship. They include:
Ruby Roberts — 800 meters, 1,600 meters and 4×400-meter relay. Jaime Schultz — 300-meter hurdles, triple jump, long jump and 4×400-meter relay. Ramona Morshead — 3,200 meters. Dana Van Wyck — pole vault and 4×200-meter relay. Mariecel Robles – 4×200-meter relay. Rebecca Williamson – 4×200-meter relay. Sally Gordon — 4×200-meter relay. Cari Whiteley – 4×400-meter relay. Renee Henderson — 4×400-meter relay. Nick Schippers — 800 meters and 1,600 meters. Justin Doud — 3,200 meters. Alex Tweten – triple jump. Stephan Simonson – 400 meters.
Bucs win one, lose one at state
Kingston played a double-header Saturday, May 23, in the first round of the state 2A baseball tournament in Bellingham and defeated No. 1 ranked Archbishop Murphy before being knocked out of contention by Cedarcrest.
The Bucs topped Murphy 5-3 with the help of home runs from Danny Orr, Paul Bagala and winning pitcher Tyler Sullivan. Sullivan allowed just two hits the entire game.
In game two, Kingston fell to Cedarcrest, 8-2, and was knocked out of the tournament. The Bucs finished 14-8 on the season.
Soccer: Steilacoom 2, Kingston 1
The Buccaneers’ soccer season ended May 16 with a loss to Steilacoom in the class 2A West Central District III playoffs.
