With recent playoff victories, both the Bremerton boys’ and the King’s West girls’ basketball teams advanced in their respective postseason tournaments.

Bremerton beat Olympic 65-50 at home Feb. 20 in the Olympic League Tournament — its third win in as many tries against the Trojans this season — to secure a No. 2 seed in the combined Olympic-Western Cascade League (OWL) tournament, determining seeding to the Class 3A West Central District III tournament. Districts begin Thursday.

Josh Koets scored a team-high 20 points and Andre Coleman added 15 for the Knights, who outscored Olympic 19-9 in the third quarter after leading 28-25 at halftime.

The Knights (12-9) host Timberline of the Western Cascade League at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the OWL tournament. The winner is the OWL No. 4 seed to districts, while the loser is eliminated.

King’s West, meanwhile, beat Mount Vernon Christian 40-36 in the Class 2B Tri-District tournament Feb. 21 to rebound from a 43-29 first-round setback against La Conner.

The Lady Warriors (12-8) face either Orcas Island or Evergreen Lutheran at 4:45 p.m. Friday at Chief Leschi High School in Puyallup in a loser-out game. The winner secures a berth to the Class 2B state tournament, beginning March 4 in Spokane.
