A back-and-forth championship game ended with a Kingston Middle School Cavaliers victory, an undefeated season and a championship.
The Cavaliers played the Klahowya Eagles today in a home game that came down to the final minutes, ending in a 42-39 Cavalier victory.
At halftime the Cavs led the Eagles by a single point, but in the third quarter the Eagles would bounce back. Leading by more than five points in the third, the Eagles gained the largest lead of the second half.
Despite Katelyn Carper fouling out, the Cavs rallied back in the fourth quarter. Picking up the pace of the game, the Cavs’ defense outmatched the Eagles offense as both teams fought for last-minute points.
With 7 minutes left to play, the Cavs led 30-28. However, the scores would not stop there.
The Eagles quickly came back, rivaling the Cavs until the last two minutes, when two free-throws and a shot from the inside pushed the final score to 42-39.
The Cavaliers team ends its season undefeated.
