The ride is over for the Kingston High School girls basketball team.
The Buccaneers (17-8 overall) ended their season Thursday at the Class 2A state basketball tournament in Yakima with a 55-46 loss to the Squalicum Storm.
“We fought as hard as we could and got beat by a better team,” Kingston Head Coach Penny Gienger said.
Kingston battled back from a 20-point deficit to pull within four, but could not gain a lead over the athletic Squalicum squad, Gienger said.
“They were very solid,” Gienger said of the Storm (18-8). “We couldn’t get enough scoring power to get over the hump.”
