PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College Pirates women’s soccer program has recruited 14 players from five states as it prepares for the next season.
The recruits include Kingston High School graduate Rebecca Tafte, who was an all-league, first team striker and leading scorer during her last three years with the Kingston Buccaneers program. Tafte was also a team captain and team MVP.
“We have some incredible talent coming in for 2014,” head coach Kanyon Anderson said in a statement. “I think what defines this particular recruiting class is versatility, coachability and maturity.
“Each player can play a variety of positions, they are willing to work hard, and they all approach school, life and soccer in a way that should make them great additions to the soccer program and to the community.”
The Pirates are the two-time defending NWAACC champions. They finished the 2013 season 16-0-0 (20-2-0), with 89 goals and 13 shutouts. They allowed 13 goals against.
Other recruits for 2014 from Kitsap include Taylor Berg and Olivia Moore of Central Kitsap High School.
