Knights duel against state’s best

Bremerton wins one, drops three at Olympic Dream Duals.

Bremerton wrestling, shorthanded and facing some of the state’s top competition, salvaged one win in four tries at Saturday’s Olympic Dream Duals at the Kitsap Fairgrounds Pavilion.

The Knights lost their first three matches — 69-6 against A.C. Davis of Yakima, the eventual second-place finisher, 47-24 against Auburn-Riverside and 54-24 against Peninsula — before salvaging a 47-24 fourth-round consolation victory against Gonzaga Prep to close the day on a high note.

Central Kitsap, Klahowya, North Kitsap and Olympic joined Bremerton to represent Kitsap, which collectively failed to advance a team in the winner’s bracket beyond the quarterfinals.

Central Kitsap and Klahowya earned first-round victories against Bethel and Auburn-Riverside, respectively, but then lost in the quarters.

Olympic, however, rebounded from a 39-36 opening round defeat against Hudson’s Bay to win three consecutive matches en route to a share of third place with Heritage and Yelm.

Wenatchee captured the title by virtue of a 34-29 win against Davis in the finals.
