From KITSAP NEWS Reports
Saturday finally saw what area track coaches had hoped for: an all-inclusive Kitsap County Classic.
For the first time since the event began, all nine county high schools (Central Kitsap, Olympic, Klahowya, South Kitsap, Bremerton, King’s West, North Kitsap, Kingston and Bainbridge) joined at Bremerton Memorial Stadium Saturday.
Several local athletes showed early season progress at the meet despite cold, wet weather.
Among the leaders at the meet were Central Kitsap’s Sean Walker and Shane Moskowitz.
Walker took two victories, winning both the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Moskowitz won both the 1,600 and 3,200 distance races.
Also taking wins for the Cougars were Rustin Winger, claiming the 800, and Robin Harris, who won the boys high jump event.
For Olympic, Rachelle Logue stepped up to take the shot put while fellow thrower Pepper Fanua won the discus. Larry Dixon won Oly’s lone boys event, taking the shot put as well.
As for Klahowya, the Eagles got just one event win when Sharon Cox took the long jump.
See Saturday’s edition for a complete list of individual winners.
