POULSBO — The final varsity game of the regular season for the North Kitsap Vikings could be a treat for the program if they defeat the Olympic Trojans on Oct. 31.
A victory will secure the Olympic League title for the Vikings, who would also finish the regular season undefeated.
However, the Vikings will have to do it without their starting quarterback, Alex Allbee. Allbee suffered a broken collar bone during the Oct. 24 game against the Port Angeles Roughriders. Allbee has 984 of the team’s 987 passing yards. He averaged 15.6 per game and completed 63 of his 102 attempted passes.
The Trojans (5-0, 6-2) are most likely the toughest competition the Vikings will have faced this season. The Olympic High School team’s two non-conference losses were against Wilson and W.F. West. The team squeaked by against Central Kitsap early in the season, winning 7-6.
Since the victory over CK, the Trojans have won all conference games by fairly wide margins. The closest game was against the Bremerton Knights Oct. 19, which the Trojans won 26-15.
Most recently, the Trojans shutout the Sequim Wolves 39-0, Oct. 24.
The Vikings (5-0, 8-0) have won by wide margins all season. The first time the Vikings were held to less than 30 points was against the Riders at Civic Field. The Vikings won 26-10, despite Allbee’s injury.
Chris Andrews and Tristan Newman are the other two Vikings with passing statistics. Andrews was 1-2 for 3 yards during the game against the Riders. Newman is 0-1.
Though their starting quarterback is out, the Vikings’ run game is still in play. The team has a total of 1,904 rushing yards. Kyle North has 860 of those yards. TJ Jensen has 461. North, Jensen and Andrew Hecker lead the team in scoring — North with 90 and Jensen and Hecker with 40 each.
