Isaac Beers of North Kitsap is the fastest 2A swimmer going both forwards and backwards.
He won two state titles on his own and one with a relay team to lead the Vikings to a second-place finish at state Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Anacortes won with 280 points. NK had 230. Kingston was 15th with 43.
Beers was the 2A state champion in the 100-yard freestyle in a new state record time of 45.98 seconds. Teammates Ian Stefanski was sixth in 50.10 and Mac MacKinnon eighth in 51.42.
A good-sized crowd from North Kitsap cheered him on.
Beers also won the state title in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.88 seconds. August Maberry was eighth in 58.28. Justi Anderson was 17th.
Beers also was on the 200-yard freestyle relay team that won the state crown with a time of 1 minute, 28.95 seconds. Also on that team were James Correll, MacKinnon and Stefanski. Kingston was 16th.
Rocco Velie of Kingston was second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:56.86. Gage Hendryx of NK was 11th.
Velie also was second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.83.
NK’s 200-yard medley relay placed second to Pullman with a time of 1:38.51. On that team were Maberry, Correll, Beers and MacKinnon. Kingston was 15th.
Correll was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.62. Zacha Cummings of Kingston was 14th.
Stefanski placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with a clocking of 1:48.87. MacKinnon was 15th.
NK’s 400-yard freestyle team finished fifth in 3:26.98. On that team were Maberry, Hendryx, Levi McLain and Stefanski.
Hendryx was seventh in the 500-yard freestyle with a clocking of 5:10.89.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Maberry was 15th and McLain 16th.
