North Kitsap baseball suffers first loss | Sports updates

Vikings suffer first loss of season

The North Kitsap High baseball team suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday at Port Angeles. The Roughriders shut out the Vikings, 5-0, despite getting just three hits. North Kitsap (17-1 overall, 14-1 league) committed two errors and allowed six Port Angeles batters to walk, four of whom later scored. Port Angeles pitcher AJ Konopaski struck out eight Viking batters and walked none. Dan Jewett recorded the loss for the Vikings.

North Kitsap will host district rival Kingston High (12-4 overall, 11-3 league) at 4 p.m. today.

Kingston tops Bremerton

The Kingston High baseball team defeated Bremerton High Wednesday, 9-3. Sophomore pitcher Richie Sander got the win for the Buccaneers. Danny Orr led the Buc offense, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Teammate Curtis Wildung was 3-for-4 with an RBI and George Marinan was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

LACROSSE

South Kitsap boys narrowly defeat North Kitsap

The North Kitsap boys lacrosse team fell to South Kitsap Wednesday, 10-9. Jake Icard led North Kitsap with four goals and nine ground balls. North Kitsap hosts Redmond at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Issaquah girls shellack North Kitsap

The North Kitsap girls lacrosse team lost to Issaquah Wednesday, 23-1. North Kitsap fell to 1-9 on the season, while Issaquah improved to 10-0. North Kitsap will host Kennedy at 5 p.m. Friday.
