PORT ANGELES — The North Kitsap win over the Port Angeles boys swim team was by three points Dec. 11.
The Vikings, behind until the last event, pulled ahead on the scoresheet when the 400 Free Relay team of Adriel Moran, Thor Breitbarth, Ian Christen and Yorik Aban finished first. The team finished in 3 minutes, 46.06 seconds defeating PA’s A.Koehler, W.Fu, C.Urnes, J.Macias (3:57.49).
The first place win along with a third place win by the second relay team, bumped the Vikings’ score from 81 to 91.
Port Angeles’ 400 Free Relay team earned four points, to finish with 88 total.
The win over PA happened despite the Vikings lack of a diving team. Port Angeles pulled ahead 45-29 after diving. The swim teams in the North Kitsap School District do not have diving teams.
The 200 Free Relay teams and individual backstroke and breaststroke swimmers helped the team narrow the gap, prior to the 400 Free Relay teams getting the win.
The Vikings travel to Sequim Dec. 13 for their next meet, scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
