The North Kitsap girls tennis team took second place overall in the 2A state tennis tournament. The tournament was held at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle on May 29-30.

North Kitsap sent two doubles teams and a singles player to state after they qualified during the regional tournament. Anneli Seaberg and Eri Maejima placed fourth in the doubles tournament, while Sarah Holt and Megan Cragg lost in a loser-out match after advancing to the second day.

Danya Wallis, who finished first in the conference and regional tournaments, continued that winning streak and won the singles championship.

After having to come from behind during several matches to make it to the final, Wallis beat Lauren Smith from Sehome to claim the state championship.

The North Kitsap boys team also sent two teams to the state tournament: Nate McCown and Joe Creason, and Nicholas Butler and Josh Benson. Both teams made it to the third round before being eliminated.
