North Kitsap Little League team wins state, goes to regional tournament

POULSBO — The North Kitsap Little League Intermediate Baseball All-Star team got the chance to represent the entire state of Washington at the Little League Western Regional in Arizona after winning the all-state tournament in July.

The team went undefeated in both the district and state tournaments, and wrapped up the state title on July 3 with a 12-1 victory over Snohomish Valley. This sent them on to Nogales, Arizona, where they finished eighth overall in the regional tournament that ran from July 18-26.

“The boys handled themselves incredibly well,” manager Jim Gillard said. “I was extremely proud, and the experience of going to the regional tournament and representing their community is something they will remember for the rest of their lives. I think the boys saw that they have the ability to play with anyone, including the very best teams in the country.

Manager Gillard, along with coaches Ben Dykstra and Paul Merlina, oversaw this group of players: Isaac Anderson, Sam Dykstra, Jakob Gillard, Richard Krenzelok, Jr., Camden LeRoy, Louis Merlina, Jordan Morse, Landon Nicholson, Beau Parhmann, Brandon Sullivan, Peau Tameilau and Karson Walsh.
