North Kitsap tops Olympic League meet, Kingston takes third

The North Kitsap High track team took first place in the Olympic League Championships Saturday at North Mason High in Belfair, with a total of 187 points. Kingston High placed second in the 2A division and third overall, with 119.5 points. Sequim was first in the 2A division and second overall, with 128 points.

First-place finishers from North Kitsap included Alex Flores in the boys 100- and 200-meter runs, Tolen McGregor in the boys 400 meters and triple jump, Tabor Reedy in the boys 3,200 meters, the boys 4×100- and 4×400-meter relay teams, Siara Byers in the girls 200 meters, Annelise Weinmann in the girls 3,200 meters, Reagan Colyer in the girls 100- and 300-meter hurdles, the girls 4×100-meter relay team, Lauryn Blevins in the girls javelin and Taylor Ottomano in the girls high jump.

First-place finishers for Kingston included Ruby Roberts in the girls 800- and 1,600-meter runs, Jaime Schultz in the girls triple jump and the 4×200-meter girls relay team.

North Kitsap’s next meet is the 3A Olympic League sub-district tournament, which takes place at noon, May 15 at Port Angeles High School.

Kingston’s next meet is the 2A West Central District Qualifier, at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Fife High School.

Kingston’s Bobby Reece wins state wrestling championship

Kingston resident Bobby Reece took first place in the 136-pound schoolboy division at the Washington State Kids Freestyle Wrestling Championship Saturday in Centralia. It was his eighth kids freestyle state championship in 10 tries. He is the first wrestler in Washington State history to rack up eight state titles at the kids freestyle level. The win helped propel his team, the Northwest Washington Wrestling Club, into fourth place overall at the state meet, its highest finish ever.
