North Kitsap led or the game was tied most of the contest, but Port Angeles pulled it out at the end to give the Roughriders a 6-2 win in softball Saturday in Olympic 2A League play.
PA is 6-0 and many of its wins have come with late-game heroics. They scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take this one in Poulsbo. They’ve won three games in walkoffs and four in the final inning.
Viking pitcher Makayla Stockman kept PA off balance through six innings, striking out 10.
NK led 1-0 in the top of the fifth then Stockman gave up a 2-run homer.
Defense sparked the visitors as NK was robbed of a homer with a catch at the fence, and another Viking was thrown out at home plate.
North Kitsap tied it in the fifth before PA clinched it.
