POULSBO — A rare opportunity for Aikido enthusiasts is nearly upon the residents of not only North Kitsap, but the entire Pacific Northwest.
For the first time in Kitsap Aikido’s 13-year history, the organization is hosting the Pacific Northwest Aikido regional seminar demonstration at Poulsbo Middle School. The event, which begins at 4 p.m. Aug. 11, is free of charge to the public.
POULSBO — It was a muggy, overcast Monday morning featuring the faintest drizzle falling from the sky which very easily could have yielded lightning at the 13th annual Thunderbolts Track and Field camp. Fortunately for everyone involved, the only electricity came in the form of speedy athletes.

POULSBO — The old adage about lightning not striking the same spot twice doesn’t hold true in Poulsbo. Next week, this will be proved once again as Poulsbo Parks and Recreation’s 13th annual Thunderbolts Track and Field summer camp hits North Kitsap High School Stadium.
BREMERTON — Alumni from the North Kitsap School District hit the greens for a reunion of sorts July 28 in an effort to raise another type of greens for upcoming graduates.
The 72 participants hit a hole in one in this respect, bringing in more than $19,000 during the third annual North Kitsap Alumni Fund Scholarship Golf Tournament at Gold Mountain Gold Course in Bremerton.

After putting forth a 3-0 record in pool play with victories against Umatilla, Columbia Basin Riverdogs and Missoula, Mont., things were looking bright for manager Brent Stenman’s North Kitsap squad.
MOSES LAKE — The North Kitsap 16-year-old Babe Ruth All Star team saved its best for last.
After dropping its first two games of the regional tournament, North stormed back, winning its final two contests en route to a 2-2 tournament record and third place finish.
“We battled back pretty good. We were a different team in those last two games,” said North manager Rick Ritter.
TACOMA — Joey Duwe’s goal heading into the Washington Junior Golf Association State Tournament was to place in the top five out of a talented field of 60 golfers in attendance.
Instead, he finished in 22nd place after shooting an 80 in the first round at Tacoma’s Fort Lewis course July 25 and a 72 in the second round of the tourney at Tacoma’s Fircrest course July 26.
BOZEMAN, MONTANA — The Diamond Dusters North Kitsap select softball finished the season as the best team in the Pacific Northwest.
The Dusters advanced to the 18U Amateur Softball Association National Tournament in College Station, Texas after defeating the Yakima Steelers 4-3 in the regional championship tournament July 22 in Bozeman, Mont.
