POULSBO — The Poulsbo Piranha Swim Team placed second at the 2015 Pacific Northwest Fall Divisional Championships, Dec. 5-6 at the Olympic Aquatic Center in Silverdale.
Ten clubs were entered. Strong performances by almost every swimmer helped the team to a great finish.
Winners included Nya Hays in the 25 fly and breastroke on her way to a second-place high point award for girls 8 and younger. Shoshona McLain had the highest point total of 7 year olds.
Evy Beers had the fourth-highest points for 9-year-old girls. Tiffany Le was second high point and Bailey Braeger was third high point among 10-year-old girls.
Ian Stefanski was second overall high point among 10-year-old boys.
Other first place winners were Brianna Hoffman in the age 11 and 12 girls 50 free, 50 back, 100 back, 200 back, 50 fly and 100 fly; and Rocco Velie in the age 11 and 12 boys 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast and the 50 fly.
The Poulsbo girls 13 and older were led by several top two and three finishes by Serita Solis. The Poulsbo boys 13 and older were dominant in the meet, taking four of the top six finishes in several events.
First place winners for the Piranha boys 13 and older included Quincy Walker, 50 free and 100 free; Jeremiah Johnston in the 100 fly and 200 free; Nathan Ramey in the 50 breast and 200 IM, Tim Gallagher in the 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast and 50 fly.
Other top award winners were Alex Stefanski, who was second in the 200 free; Bryce Hoffer, second in the 50 free and third in the 200 IM; and Matthew Smith, second in the 50 fly.
Quincy also placed third in the 50 fly. Jeremiah placed second in the 100 back and Tim finished second in the 100 IM.
Many of these swimmers will head off to the Pacific Northwest 14 & Under SC Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Dec. 11-13; or the Washington State Senior SC Championships, also at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center, Dec 17-20. They will be joined by Isaac Beers, James Correll, Ethan Fox, Ava Harris, Izzy Hendryx, and Claudia Velie, who also qualified for those meets.
