Ravens lacrosse team begins second season; next home game March 18 | Men’s lacrosse

POULSBO — In sports, North Kitsap is known for Dodger pitcher Aaron Sele, motocross racer Ryan Villapoto, White Horse Golf Course, the old Viking Cup soccer tournament, and the Babe Ruth World Series.

Now, lacrosse is making its mark.

The Ravens, a men’s lacrosse team, is 1-1 in the Cascade Men’s Lacrosse League, comprised of teams from Bellingham to Eugene. The team is in its second season. The team was founded by Joseph Bates, who works at Olympic Peninsula Physical Therapy; and team members include Julious Ifurungi, coach of the North Kitsap Tridents, which competes in Division II of the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association.

The Ravens opened with an 18-1 loss at Coopers March 3, but followed with a 12-4 win over Rainier at home March 4. The Ravens’ home field is Strawberry Fields on Hostmark Avenue and Noll Road.
