Running series continues Aug. 14

PORT GAMBLE — The Roots Rock Trail Running Series presented by Poulsbo Running continues Aug. 14 with the Port Gamble Half-Marathon.

With a little bit of everything, the marathon has plenty of hills and fast descents.

A barbecue will be held at the end of the marathon for all participants.

Spartans tryouts next weekend

BAINBRIDGE — Tryouts for the Spartans Baseball Club are scheduled for the next two weekends.

For the 13U and 14U teams, first-round tryouts are scheduled Aug. 14, 3-6 p.m. at Bainbridge High School baseball field, 9330 NE High School Road.

The 15U and 16U team tryouts are scheduled Aug. 14, noon to 3 p.m. at the BHS baseball field.

Second-round tryouts for 13/14U are scheduled Aug. 20, 3-6 p.m. at the BHS field.

Second-round tryouts for 15/16U are scheduled Aug. 21 12-3 p.m. at the field.

NK Alumni Golf Tournament       end of August

BREMERTON — The North Kitsap Alumni Golf Tournament, benefitting the North Kitsap Schools Foundation, is scheduled Aug. 26 at Gold Mountain Golf Club, 2761 Belfair Valley Road, Bremerton.

Check-in is 11 a.m. Putting contest begins at 11:30 a.m. Tournament begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start.

Cost is $135 per person. The cost includes 18 holes of golf, driving range, golf cart and dinner.

Dinner only is $30.

Trophies will be provided for putting, closest to pin, and longest drive.

A silent auction and raffle prizes will be held.

Caddy Shack Open Sept. 22 at      White Horse

SUQUAMISH — The Caddy Shack Open is scheduled Sept. 22 at White Horse Golf Club.

The tournament, hosted by Elder and Adult Day Services, begins with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.

Cost is $60 per person or $240 for a team of four, if registered by Aug. 21. Otherwise, cost is $65 per person or $260 for a team. Cost covers cart green fees and a banquet. People with disabilities golf free.

Money raised will benefit Elder and Adult Day Services, a non-profit providing day health services to seniors and other adults with physical and cognitive disabilities, such as dementia and brain injuries.

The tournament format will be a best ball scramble; teams use the best of four shots when moving down the fairway.

The tournament will feature competitions inspired by the movie “Caddyshack.” This includes a “Be the Ball” drive, where golfers are blindfolded, swinging for the longest drive.
