Silverdale golfing prodigy Erynne Lee, 15, shot a four-over 77 in the opening round of the U.S. Women’s Open Thursday at the Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minn.

It wasn’t a bad showing for Lee, one of 27 amateurs in the Open, taking place on the longest course in its history, as Interlachen stretches 6,789 yards. Ranked No. 7 nationally for high school-aged golfers, Lee opened with a bogey on the first hole before sinking an eagle on the par-5 second hole, her only sub-par hole on the day.

Her 77 leaves her tied in 94th place overall in the field of 156.

The tournament features some of the top female golfers in the world.

South Korean Ji Young Oh and American Pat Hurst were tied for the lead at 6-under 67. Defending champion Cristie Kerr shot a -1, good for a 21st-place tie, while Lorena Ochoa shot an even par. In what will likely be her final Open, Annika Sorenstam shot a 2-over in the first round. Michelle Wie was one of the more notable names near the bottom, as the former prodigy (Wie made a splash when she first qualified for the Open at 13 years old), shot an 8-over to finish the opening round tied for 146th place.

After the first two rounds, the top 60 (including those tied for 60th place) and anyone within 10 strokes of the leader will advance.

Lee averaged 251 yards on her drive while she hit 44 percent of her fairways. Lee also averaged 1.78 puts per hole.
