POULSBO — A total of seven tennis players from the North Kitsap School District are moving on to the District tournament May 12.
Those who advance to Districts placed in the top six of the Olympic League tournament. The League tournament wrapped up May 7 at North Kitsap High School.
Kingston High School singles advancing are Becca McNurney and Austen Turner. Doubles teams from Kingston include Lindsey Wicklein/Erica Daniels and Marilyn Fick/Charlotte Kilborn.
North Kitsap’s singles player Syndey Crabtree is the only Viking to advance.
Despite a large group of competitors from NKSD, it was Klahowya’s Tracy Landram who took first in the singles bracket. Landram defeated McNurney 6-0, 6-0 in the final match.
Sequim’s doubles team Stacy Hanson/Katrina Chan, which was the number 2 seed into the tournament, defeated Wicklein/Daniels 7-5, 7-5. Wicklein and Daniels were the number 1 seed.
The 18 tennis players who placed in the league tournament will play at the Sprinker Recreation Center, 14824 South C St., Tacoma.

5th/6th place — AnneMarie Herbert (Olympic), def. Kyrie Reyes (Port Angeles) 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.

3rd/4th — Marilyn Fick/Charlotte Kilborn (Kingston), def. Daniell Rutherford/ Shayla Bohman (Port Angeles) 7-5, 6-2.
5th/6th — Hillary Smith/Anna Prorok (Sequim), def. Jordi Fickas/ Chelsea Drake (Port Angeles) 6-7 (3-7), 7-5, 6-2.
