The Bainbridge boys and girls track teams defeated Sequim and North Mason at home March 27.

The boys team won with 86 points while Sequim had 48 and North Mason 44. The girls team scored 94.5 points while North Mason scored 45 and Sequim 34.5.

The Spartans won 10 of the 21 running events, including sweeping the medals in three of them.

The first sweep came when Liliana Pohl, Clara Pehling and Taylor Adcock finished first through third in the 3200 meters. Pohl led the way at 14 minutes, 55.21 seconds.

The next sweep came when Bodie Strom, Marcus Stroman and Roan Brumwell finished top three in the 1600. Strom defeated Stroman by less than a second with a time of 5:00.93.

The final sweep came in the 300 hurdles. Claire Hungerford won with in 48.21 seconds, Mayzie Carleton finished second and Sabine Hartenstine third. In the 100 hurdles, Hungerford won with a time of 16.54, Hartenstine finished second and Carleton fourth.

Cate Torrell won the 100-meter dash in 13.73 seconds, Ian Sanders won the 400 in 1:00.21, Arden De Lanoy won the 400 for the girls with a 1:08.77, Mairin O’Brien won the 800 with a 2:25.72 and Rowan Meek won the 200 dash in a 25.20 seconds.

Thomas Steen was the Spartans top hurdler for the boys. He finished second in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles with times of 19.70 and 47.24. Micah Bryant flashed his speed in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.42, finishing third out of 20.

Olivia Berg finished second in the 1600 with a 7:34.24. In addition, Zachary Shields earned a silver medal in the 3200 with a 11:52.98, and Ben Crandall finished second in the 800 with a 2:15.74.

The girls 1600 team was the only squad to capture gold in the relay races. Nova Sheppard, Hailey McCulloch, Pehling and Carleton finished in 4:46.26, half of a second faster than Sequim’s squad.

The Spartans did not win any throwing events. But, Wyatt Goade finished second in the shot put with toss of 34 feet, while Matthew Grant led the boys in the discus with a third-place finish after throwing 94-5.

McCulloch finished second in the discus at 73-9, and Lucy Brown finished fourth in the shot put at 14-4. Rowan Shick won the javelin with 125-8, and Brad Montgomery finished second with 124-10. Katie Doyle was the top girls javelin thrower, finishing third with an 82-9.

Amare Clark led the boy jumpers with a first-place finish in the long jump at 18-4 and second-place in the triple jump at 36-7. Robert Sunn Smith placed second in the high jump with a mark of 5-4.

Gretchen Johnston finished first in the long and triple jumps with marks of 13-1 and 28-3. Hungerford captured her third medal in the high jump, finishing first with a 4-9.

The pole vaulters ended the meet with Ella McRitchie placing first with a mark of 13 feet, and Yafei Shou second with an 11-6- for the boys team.
