“DiG PiNK” match approaching
South Kitsap’s volleyball team hosts host Olympic on Wednesday in a match that features a challenge beyond the volleyball court.
Both teams and their schools’ athletic-medicine programs have joined to raise money for “DiG PiNK,” which raises awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. Besides the outcome on the court, the schools are competing to see which can raise more money for the event.
T-shirts for the match, which cost $5 and are used for admission to the match, can be purchased at Manchester Family, Snap Dog Diner, Bucks A&W, and South Kitsap and Olympic high schools.
“We’re teaching the girls some civic responsibility,” South Kitsap coach Jessica Anderson said before the season. “We think this is a really neat thing for high-school kids to be involved in.”
