SK picks up road wins,
to keep record perfect
Junior post Molly Werder averaged 15 points per game last week as the Wolves picked up two road wins against Tacoma schools in Narrows League play to remain undefeated.
South Kitsap (5-0 overall, 3-0 league) used a 20-12 advantage in the final period to earn a 54-47 win Wednesday at Foss.
The Wolves won again two days later, 45-28, at Wilson. Angel Sheldon had eight points in both games.
Even the Wolves’ last state-playoff team in 1999-2000 didn’t start this well. That team won six of its first seven games.

Wolves post four
state-qualifying times
South Kitsap’s boys swimming team had four-state qualifying times during Thursday’s 141-42 Narrows League win at Mount Tahoma.
Junior Brandon Dravis qualified in two events with first-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 1.25 seconds) and the 100 backstroke (56.43). Dravis, Danny DeRego, Justin Slezak and Taylor Rousell also guided the Wolves’ 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams to state times. They won the 200 (1:43.8) and 400 (3:24.44).
Rousell and Slezak narrowly missed qualifying in individual events, as well. Rousell won the 50 freestyle (22.88), which was three-hundredths of a second off a state-qualifying time. He also captured the 100 free (50.41), where he missed by a qualifying time by little more than two-tenths of a second. Slezak won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.98).
