North’s tennis team lost to Central Kitsap 5-0 on Thursday at home.
No. 1 singles Aya Sugimoto defeated NK Britt Seaberg 6-0, 6-1; No. 2 singles Calla Chun defeated MK Megan Oost 6-2,6-0; No. 1 doubles Aimee Rozier, Corinne Wurden defeated NK Stephanie Habner, Darlene Dang 6-1,6-1; No. 2 doubles Nicole Morrison, Sachi Sugimoto defeated Rose Bissonnette, Meghan O’hara 6-0,6-0; No. 3 doubles Karie Jackson, Brianna Harrison defeated NK Bryana Bohl, McKenna Elves 7-5,7-5. The Vikings traveled to Wilson on Tuesday. Results of the match were not available at presstime. On Friday North travels to Stadium.

THREE FOR THREE
On Friday the Bucs defeated Peninsula 13-3. On Saturday the Bucs posted a 5-4 victory over Chimacum and on Monday Kingston trounced Olympic 10-4. The Bucs handed Olympic its first loss of the season. Kingston has a 3-2 overall record and a 2-1 league record.
Peninsula game stats: KHS starting pitcher Tyler Sullivan tallied 10 strikeouts in four innings and allowed two runs, Justin Tapp nabbed two strikeouts in two innings and allowed one run. Austin Overton posted one strike out in one inning and didn’t give up a run. Paul Bagala three hits and two runs; Reuben Smith three hits and two runs; Kyle Murray two hits and one run; Danny Maleski one hit that was a two RBI double; Taylor Zehrung, one hit, two walks and two runs; and Chris Jones one hit, three walks and two runs.
Chimacum game stats: Chris Jones pitched four innings for one run and four hits; Robert Jordan pitched two innings for three runs and four hits; Austin Overton pitched one inning and didn’t give up a hit. Robert Jordan one run, one RBI; Chris Jones two hits and one run; Kyle Murray one hit and an RBI; Danny Orr had two hits, two runs and three RBIs as he blasted the game winning homer.

NK traveled to Kingston on Saturday to play the Bucs for the first time this year. The teams played to a 1-1 tie. Kingston’s Brian Bain scored the game-tying goal (unassisted) in the 60th minute of play. On Friday at 5 p.m. Kingston plays Olympic in a home game. This will be the Bucs’ first league match against a 3A school. NK played Bellarmine on Tuesday. Results of the game were not available at presstime. On Friday North plays Olympia at NK Stadium. The varsity game starts at 7 p.m.

On Monday The Kingston Middle School girls basketball team defeated Hawkins Middle School, 46-24. Player of the game was Charlotte Kilborn who scored 8 for the Cavaliers.

The Cavs are 8-1 and played the Poulsbo Panthers yesterday for the league championship. The game was at PMS and results of the game were not available at presstime.
PMS PANTHERS BASKETBALL ON THE PROWL FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP
On Monday PMS defeated McMurray Middle School of Vashon Island 60-25. Yesterday the Panthers played KMS in the championship game. The last time the two teams played KMS won at home by two points.

WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY REPRESENTS THE NORTHWEST IN SWEET 16 BASKETBALL ACTION
WSU advances to the NCAA March Madness Sweet 16 tournament for the first time since 1941. The No. 4 Cougars take on No. 1 North Carolina in Charlotte. The game is on Thursday and tip off is at 4:27 p.m. The playoffs can be seen at Garcia’s Family Restaurant, the Portside and Tizleys.
CHISHOLM’S CHALLENGE BASKETBALL CAMPS
The North Kitsap Athletic Boosters Club presents Chisholm’s Challenge 2008 boys and girls basketball camps. The cost is $85 per camper per camp. There are four camps in all with sessions for ninth through 12-graders and fifth through eighth-graders. The camps run June 9-13, June 23-27, July 7-11 and July 21-25. Registration flyers will be available for pick up at the Sport House in Poulsbo or from coach Tony Chisholm at NKHS starting April 7.
