Bucs tennis, cross country, soccer, swimming, volleyball off to districts
Boys Tennis: Jerol Bird won the 2A boys’ singles tournament and will be going to districts in the spring.
Cross Country: The cross country team is competing in the 2A state championships this weekend in Pasco. The 16 cross country athletes making the trip: Rose Bishop, Rachel Burk, Madeline Kirstein, Erika Rabura, Marina Roberts, Ruby Roberts, Chloe Stamper, Nathan Ajax, Austin Cherry, Wade Doty, Justin Doud, Nick Gasser, Shane Hawthorn, Logan Hixson, Mitch Murdock and Nick Schippers.
Football: Varsity currently has a record of 1-7 overall. After beating Chimacum in their first game, the Bucs encountered two tough 3A opponents then took the Washington Patriots to overtime before losing 21-14. The Bucs have rebounded well after suffering a difficult homecoming loss. They fought the defending Nisqually League champion Fife Trojans to a 27-12 loss, however the Bucs season is over.
Girls soccer: Today the girls varsity soccer team will compete at districts against Fife High School at Franklin Pierce Stadium.
Girls swimming: More than half the team qualified for districts, and will compete today at Olympic High School.
Volleyball: The varsity volleyball team is off to districts and takes on Washington High School at 10 a.m. today at the Kitsap Sun Pavilion.
NK football, cross country, soccer, swimming headed to districts
The Vikings football team traveled to Liberty High School on Friday for the first round of playoff action. Results of the game were not available at press time.
North’s Olympic League championship boys and girls cross country teams travel to Pasco today for the state competition.
On Tuesday the Vikings soccer team beat Timberline, 7-0 in a winner to districts/loser out playoff game. Today the soccer squad travels to Highline Stadium to take on LindBerg High School in the district tournament.
Today Viking swimming travels to Hazen High School to participate in the district meet.
Boys swim team a go
There will be a Vikings boys swim team this year. A preseason meeting for all boys interested in turning out for the team will be at 3 p.m. on Nov. 13 at the pool. All paperwork should be completed and turned in to the North’s athletic office by the first day of practice, which is Nov. 17. Questions contact coach Greg Braun at gbraun@nkschools.org.
KHS fall sports award ceremony
The Kingston High School Athletic Department and Athletic Boosters Fall Sports Award Ceremony will be at 7 p.m. on Nov 20 in the KHS commons. To help cut down on time the ceremony will no longer be banquet-style. Instead dessert and refreshments will be served before and after the ceremony free of charge. Athletes participating in cheer, cross country, football, girls swimming, girls soccer, boys tennis and volleyball are all required to attend.
Winter season “Meet the Bucs”
Come out and “Meet the Bucs” on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. in the KHS gym. Enjoy music from the KHS band and meet the winter sport athletes. Parent meetings for each sport will immediately follow. Athletes in boys and girls basketball, boys swim, gymnastics and wrestling are all required to attend.
Parks and Recreation has something for all
Poulsbo Parks and Recreation’s local rec center offers conditioning and weight training capabilities for all interested people. Along with the ongoing aerobic classes (jazzercise, yoga and general fitness sessions) the center has a weight room setup for individual workouts using multifunctional machines, dumbbells, and various free weights. Cost to use the weight room is $25 per month, $40 per month for a family signup.
