First Viking football
game delayed by a day
The unusual amount of rain that’s recently deluged the region has created problems for construction crews working to finish installation of the new artificial turf at North Kitsap Stadium. As a result, the stadium’s first scheduled football game between North Kitsap High School and Bainbridge High School, originally scheduled for Sept. 5, has now been rescheduled to Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. If the field is complete at North Kitsap Stadium, the game will be played there. If the field cannot be completed in time, the game will be played at Silverdale Stadium. The new artificial turf field being installed at Bainbridge High School is also running behind schedule, so it was not an option to move the game to BHS, according to North Kitsap District Athletic Director Trish Olson. An analysis of field completion status and the decision on where to play the game will be made by school district officials on Sept. 2.
